David A. Varnum

	David A. Varnum, 87, of Belleville, born April 23, 1916 in Du Quoin, died Monday, May 12, 2003 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville.
	He was a retired Electronic Technician for Scott Air Force Base and a member of First Baptist Church of Du Quoin.  He was also a former member of Illinois Antique Radio Club, Military Amateur Radio Club, American Relay Radio Club, Belleville Area Antique Radio Club and the Moose Lodge of Swansea.
	He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion E. and Maude A. (Houston) Varnum; a daughter, Donna Mae Morris; five brothers, Clifford H., Marion R., Robert L., Arthur W. and Archie M. Varnum; one grandson and one great-grandson.
	He is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. (Dahlhoff) Varnum; three children, Ronald D. (Carla) Varnum of Pasadena, Maryland, Sharon K. (Allen) Litchfield of Macinaw and Raymond G. (Cindy) Varnum of Belleville; one brother, Lawrence E. (Mary) Varnum of Ziegler; three sisters, Lucille Terry of Du Quoin, Martha E. Beard of Du Quoin and Mary Louise Heisler of Du Quoin; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 13 nieces, 10 nephews and many cousins and friends.
	Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Diabetes Association or Kidney Foundation.
	Friends called from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville.
	Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 16 at Kurrus Funeral Home with Rev. James Corbitt officiating.  Interment was in Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights.
